Chester Chapman

Chester “Chet” Chapman was the first BG football player to win All-Ohio honors, achieving that feat in all three seasons he played at Bowling Green. He was a key component to the 1928 team that completed the school’s first undefeated season (5-0-2), earning All-NW Ohio Conference honors for the first of three seasons that year.

After Bowling Green, Chapman became BG’s first professional football player before taking a coaching job at Davidson in 1935. He also coached wrestling and freshman basketball at the North Carolina school.

Chapman would later serve in World War II. He was inducted to the BG Athletic Hall of Fame in 1965.
