Josie McCulloch came to Bowling Green from Ontario and quickly became one of the top swimmers conference history. In 1994, McCulloch became the first MAC female swimmer to individually qualify for the NCAAs in all four years and earn All-America honors in three seasons. She was also a MAC individual champion in all four years at the university.

She would go on to win the MAC in that event the next two years, as well. In 1991, she set both school and conference records in both of those events as the Falcons finished second in the MAC as a team. She qualified for the NCAA meet that year, as BG set school records in the 200m and 400m medley relays.

As a sophomore, Josie was named the MAC's co-Swimmer of the Year after capturing two more MAC championships, in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, and was again part of a pair of NCAA-qualifying relay teams in the 200m medley and 400m medley.

In 1993, her junior year, McCulloch again won the MAC in the 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke, as the Falcons finished second in the MAC as a team. She again earned honorable mention All-American honors in the 100m breaststroke.

Wrapping up her collegiate career in 1994, McCulloch was the MAC champion in the 200m breaststroke, while finishing second in the 100m breaststroke. She again qualified for the NCAA meet, and earned honorable mention All-American honors in the 200m breaststroke. Her school records in the 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke still stand today.
