Since its inception in 1919, football has always been an important part of Bowling Green. From the days of three-time All-Ohio halfback Chet Chapman, to a BG grad returning to campus and coaching the Falcons to a national championship, Brian McClure's air show of the 1980's and a turn in the national spotlight as a new century unfolds, Bowling Green has always held its place on the college football map. Retired Numbers Paul Miles - BGSU Athletic Dept.
Paul Miles' #29 is the only jersey number that has been retired by Falcon football. Miles rushed for 3,239 yards and 25 touchdowns in his career and was a three-time first team All-MAC selection. He was just the third back in NCAA history to rush for 1,000 or more yards in three consecutive seasons.
