Charles Buckenmeyer Print E-mail
A two-year member of the football team, and also members of the basketball and golf teams at Bowling Green, Charles Buckenmeyer made the biggest name for himself after college. Graduating from BGSU in 1946, he was named head football coach at Napoleon High School in 1948. His teams went 20-7 in two seasons, and after missing the 1951 season, Buckenmeyer returned to the sidelines in 1952, coaching 26 seasons before retiring in 1977 with 209 career victories. Napoleon inducted him into their athletic hall of fame in 2003, and named their football stadium in his honor.

He was inducted to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1973. Charles Buckenmeyer passed away on October 22, 2004 at the age of 83.
