Martin Bayless Print E-mail
The most prolific interceptor in MAC history, Martin Bayless led the nation with ten picks in 1983, and finished with a conference record 27. He also holds a school record with six consecutive games with an interception, as he picked off a pass in the last four games of the 1981 season, and the first two games of the 1982 campaign. His three interceptions against Ball State on November 5, 1983 is BG record he shares with six other Falcons. He was named to the All-American team his senior year.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, Bayless played 13 seasons in the NFL, including stints with St. Louis, Buffalo, Kansas City, San Diego and Washington. In his pro career, he intercepted 12 passes, recorded 11.5 sacks, and scored a touchdown on a fumble return for Washington in 1994.

He was inducted into the BG Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989.
